Totally Tuesday Blog Hop!

Time for a blog hop!

Are you ready to Blog Hop? What is a Blog Hop, you ask? It's a way to socialize and get to know each other, plus a way to help drive traffic to your site. Here are the basic rules:

1.Follow Frugal Living and More, through one of the methods available (Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Networked blogs, Google Friend Connect, e-mail or RSS feed!)

2. Make sure you leave a note/comment letting me know you visited and how you are following my blog. This will ensure that I follow you back!

3.Link up your blog. (Please - only Family Friendly Blogs on this linky.)

4.Make sure you visit as many of the blogs as possible (and follow a few, if you can!)

5.It would be appreciated if you also post the linky to this Blog Hop on your site. The code can be found near the bottom of this post. The more often it is posted, the more people will participate since the blog hop is replicated on each page it is posted to - you only need to enter yourself once! That's it! Very simple rules, right? Let's get ready to have some fun!

Save Money Grocery Shopping

Here are a few tips on how to save money grocery shopping:

  • Shop for produce at a local farm stand.
  • Never buy coffee, soda, or other drinks or snacks out.
  • Always grocery shop with a list.
  • Take advantage of sales on items that you would normally buy.
  • Only shop once a month.
  • Keep a price book and track prices by unit cost.
  • Stockpile staples when prices are low.
  • Buy generic items.
  • Use the Grocery Game.
  • Plan meals according to what is on sale that week.
  • Take advantage of rainchecks if the store doesn’t have a sale item that you need.
  • Take advantage of rebates at Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid…but only if you’ll use the item and will follow through on the rebate.
  • Buy enough of a sale item to last 12 weeks. That’s about how long sales take to cycle.
  • Shop at discount marts: Grocery Outlet, The Dollar Store, etc.
  • Bring your own bags to the grocery store. Many stores offer a small discount per bag.
  • Take advantage of stores that double coupons.
  • Watch out for deals on things that your friends need, and have them do the same for you.

Homemade Lemon-Fresh Window Cleaner

I have found that homemade cleaners are cheaper than store bought and work just as good.
Most of them are also environmentally friendly.
Below is a great recipe for window cleaner.

Homemade Lemon-Fresh Window Cleaner
  • 3 TBS lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 cups club soda (you can use water too or a mix of water and club soda but I prefer 100% club soda)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
Pour everything into a spray bottle then shake well before using.

Tell StarBucks Goodbye!

Paying $4.oo for a cup of coffee is not frugal! I love a cup from Starbucks, it's so good! But I'm cheap! My grandpa always said it was stupid to pay $4.00 for a cup of "fancy" coffee! Below are some recipes for some "fancy" coffee drinks that will help keep some money in your pocket!

Pumpkin Spice Latte
Ingredients:
2 cups milk
1 cup very strong coffee (4 tablespoons coffee grounds to 1 cup of hot water)
2 tablespoons vanilla
4 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon spice
2 heaping spoonfuls of pumpkin
Directions:
Pour all of the ingredients into a pot and heat over medium-high heat until the coffee is steaming hot, whisking with a wire whisk until the ingredients are incorporated and a little frothy. Pour into mugs and top with fresh whipped cream & cinnamon. Enjoy!
Serves 2!

  Cinnamon Dolce Latte

Ingredients:
1/2 cup strong coffee
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
1 1/3 cups 1% low-fat milk
Directions
In a large pan, mix the cinnamon and sugar with a bit of milk.
Add the rest of the milk and bring to a boil.
Just as the mixture comes to a boil, take it off the heat.
Pour your coffee into your favorite mug.
Pour in the milk and serve immediately.
