Things to Know About Couponing

Here are some things that everyone should know about using coupons.

Coupons can only be used once. You can not buy 2 boxes of cereal and scan the coupon for $1 off cereal 2 times.  You can only use the coupon on one box, one time. The store will only be reimbursed for the coupon once.

You can not use two of the same coupons on one item. You can not buy one box of cereal and use ten coupons on it.  You can only use one of your coupons on the box of cereal.  You can, however, use one store coupon and one manufacturer coupon on one item.

Coupons can not be copiedCopying coupons is illegal! If you need multiple coupons, you can get them in legal ways like buying multiple newspapers.

Read the wording of the coupon.  Most manufacturer’s usually put a picture of their most expensive product on the coupon so you think that you have to buy that product.  If you  read the coupon, it will probably say that you save on ANY brand xyz product.”  That means you can buy even the least expensive product and still use the coupon!

You can use a coupon on sale or clearance items too!

Stand up for yourself! If you are using coupons correctly then stand up for yourself if a cashier doesn't want to take your coupon. Sometimes the cashiers are just misinformed.  Be calm and polite and explain why you CAN use the coupon.  If the cashier still doesn’t accept it, ask  to speak to a manager.

Carry a copy of the store's coupon policy. I have had to pull out my policy a few times at certain stores to show the cashier that I was able to use a coupon. They store's policy can usually be found on their website.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I would be happy to answer!
